Show me another»Essay about a famous person? (13 years old)?
Hello!
My brother is 13 years old and he has to write an essay about a famous person. I want to help him out but we dont know whom to write about. We dont want to write about Michael Jackson, the queen etc because we are sure many students will write about them. We want to write about a person that no one will think of but who is famous at the same time. Any help?

Here's a few suggestions:
1.) WILLIAM WALLACE --
William Wallace is one of Scotland's greatest national heroes, undisputed leader of the Scottish resistance forces during the first years of the long and ultimately successful struggle to free Scotland from English rule at the end of the 13th Century.
Records of Wallace's life are patchy and often inaccurate. This is partly because early accounts of his heroic deeds are speculative, and partly because he inspired such fear in the minds of English writers at the time, that they demonised him, his achievements, and his motives.
Many of the stories surrounding Wallace have been traced to a late-15th Century romance "The Wallace", ascribed to Henry the minstrel, or "Blind Harry". This epic is vehemently anti-English in language and tone. The most popular tales about Wallace are not supported by documentary evidence, but they show his firm hold on the imagination of his people. He represented the spirit of the common man striving for freedom against oppression, and exposed the Scottish nobility of the time as a group of unprincipled opportunists.
2.) WALT DISNEY --
Walt Disney is a legend; a folk hero of the 20th century. His worldwide popularity was based upon the ideals which his name represents: imagination, optimism, creation, and self-made success in the American tradition. He brought us closer to the future, while telling us of the past, it is certain, that there will never be such as great a man, as Walt Disney.

3.) HELEN KELLER --
Helen Keller's improbable journey from a child unable to communicate due to her multiple disabilities, to her exalted place on the world stage as the famous global citizen she would become, is one of the greatest stories of the 20th century.
For many, Helen's story ends with the image of a young deafblind girl and her teacher Anne Sullivan at a water pump. However, that transforming moment for Helen signified only the beginning of her new life—a life dedicated to tireless advocacy and fearless activism that opened wide the doors of possibility for people with disabilities.

4.) SYLVIA PLATH --
Sylvia Plath was a gifted, troubled poet, known for her confessional style work. Winning a scholarship to Smith College in 1950, she eventually went on to work as an editor for Mademoiselle magazine. After her husband Ted Hughes cheated on her, she fell into a deep depression. Before committing suicide at age 30, Plath had written hundreds of poems and a novel about mental breakdown, The Bell Jar.

5.) IGNATIUS SANCHO --
Ignatius Sancho (1729-1780). This African of Falstaffian girth and bonhomie was born on a slave ship. By the time he was two, both his parents were dead (his father through suicide), yet he went on to become a major literary celebrity in Georgian London.
Sancho's friends included the writer of Tristram Shandy, Laurence Sterne, and the actor David Garrick. He published four collections of musical compositions, and he sat for a Gainsborough oil portrait. And, after his death, his playful experimental correspondence was published - this was the first book known to have been penned by a black British writer. In 1773 Sancho also opened a corner shop, on the street where the Foreign and Commonwealth Office now stands.
His life demonstrates a rare triumph of talent and resourcefulness over the poverty and prejudice that snuffed out so many black men and women in 18th-century Britain.

- This might sound cheesy but there is a pop group called STEPS they were around in the 90's and came back last October they have 14 consecutive top 10 singles only beaten by the Beatles, they have just completed a sell out tour including two nights at the O2 Arena in London they have several number one albums including two Greatest Hits albums, they aren't extremely popular like Michael Jackson and te Queen but they are one of britains most successful 90's pop groups to reunite and have a successful comeback x hope the essay goes well x

I could write a book on STEPS as I have been a fan since the beginning (1997)- 9 months ago

Neil Patrick Harris
Jennifer Aniston

I had to do something like this, and I did Walt Disney and Houdini.
Edit: Helen Keller would be great, too. Do they have to be alive? You could do Cleopatra, Julias Caesar, Sibyl Ludington, Anne Hutchinson, Pythagoras, Plato, Aristotle, and John Brown, just to name some historical figures. You could also do JK Rowling, JRR Tolkien, or your favorite author. Choose your favorite TV show and pick the producer of that or an actress/actor in it.
If your local library has an online database, type in 'biography' and scroll through the names until you find something interesting. That way you know you'll have a book on them.- Edited 9 months ago
